Appliedinfo Partners President Recognized by Asian-American Business Group

John Lau, president of Appliedinfo Partners Inc., was among 50 Asian American professionals and entrepreneurs in the tri-state area to be honored by the Asian American Business Development Center on June 30, 2004, at the New York Hilton Hotel. Others who were recognized include IBM Global Communications Officer Jon C. Iwata, Wyndham International President & Chief Operating Officer Theodore Teng and Kam Man Food Corporation Chairperson Wellman Wu.

These award recipients came from immigrant families, studied and worked hard to gain economic and social freedom and to pursue the lifestyles of their choice in the United States. The award recognizes the cultural and language barriers they had overcome, and the sacrifices they had made to provide for their families.

Through the voices of MSNBC reporter Vivian Lee, Goldman Sachs Managing Director Robert D. Hormat and Verizon Network Services President Keiko Harvey, Asian Americans’ stories of personal struggles and difficult paths to success were retold and shared as encouragement to others.

This is the fourth year that the Asian American Business Development Center recognizes Asian Americans’ contribution to the local community and workplaces in mainstream America.  Through this award event, the stories of outstanding Asian Americans in business and other professions can be acknowledged and remembered by the local community.
